What is the delegation cap for NACURH 2009?

The delegation cap for non-bidding schools is 10 (including advisors), and the cap for schools bidding for NACURH 2010 is 20 (including advisors). Schools wishing to bring extra delegates will need to fill out an Extra Delegate Request Form that will be made available on our website. However, please note that requests for extra delegates will only be honored for those schools that register during the Regular Registration period. Price for both delagates and advisors staying in double-occupancy rooms is $161.

What is the earliest day that my delegation will be allowed to check-in for NACURH 2009?

Delegations bidding for NACURH 2010 may check-in no earlier than Thursday, May 21, and all other delegates may check-in no earlier than Friday, May 22. If your delegation chooses to travel to Tucson early to hike beautiful Sabino Canyon, explore Nogales, Mexico, or even enhance your knowledge at the Desert Museum or Biosphere 2, you will be responsible for your own transportation and lodging until check-in is allowed.

How far is the University of Arizona from the airport?

The U of A is a short 15-minute ride from Tucson International Airport and about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. More information can be found under the Transportation section.

Can my delegation drive to the conference?

Yes, your delegation may drive to the University of Arizona and parking arrangements will be made available for those that choose to do so.

How much will transportation to NACURH 2009 cost my delegation?

If your delegation chooses to either fly to Tucson International Airport or drive to the conference, then the cost of the shuttle from the airport to the university or the on-campus parking pass is no extra charge. (These have been included in the final delegate cost.)

If your delegation chooses to fly to Sky Harbor International in Phoenix, then you will be responsible for your transportation to and from the conference. Links to shuttle services that run between Sky Harbor and Tucson will be made available under the Transportation section on this website.

How many delegates will be housed per room?

There will be two delegates assigned to every room.

What is included in every room and what do I need to pack?

There are two beds per room, and every bed will have a set of sheets, one blanket, one towel and one pillow. You will need to bring your own toiletries. There is also free wireless internet on the University of Arizona campus, so there is no need for you to bring any Ethernet cords.

Will there be vegetarian and vegan meal options available at NACURH 2009?

Yes, all meals served during the conference will have vegetarian and vegan options.

How can we make our delegation and our time at the NACURH 2009 conference more sustainable?

There a hundreds of ways that you and your delegation can be sustainable! Here are a few:

  • Donate to the conference philanthropy, carbonfund.org, to offset your carbon footprint
  • Create PowerPoint presentations for programs instead of making paper handouts
  • Limit your showers to 5 minutes or less
  • There are plenty of recycling bins on our campus, so if you have something that is paper, plastic, aluminum or cardboard and it can be recycled, RECYCLE IT!
  • If you bring your cell phone or computer to the conference, do not leave the charger plugged into the wall when you are not using it.

How do we donate to Carbonfund.org, the NACURH 2009 philanthropy?

A link will be made available on our website that will guide you directly to the carbonfund.org landing page designed especially for NACURH 2009. As a conference, we will not be accepting donations for the philanthropy, so you must donate all of your contributions through the website. We will be working with Carbonfund.org to track schools’ donations

What will the weather be like during the conference?

Although we are not psychics and do not have the ability to predict the future, there is a very good chance that it will be very hot. The average temperature in Tucson for the end of May is 95 degrees. It is a dry heat and very sunny, so be sure to drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen!
