An integral part of your conference experience is how you will go about making it to NACURH 2009. There are a variety of methods of travel when it comes to making it to Tucson. Hopefully this information will help you make your decisions surrounding how to make it to NACURH 2009.
FLYING
Tucson International Airport
The Tucson International Airport (TIA) is located 12 miles south of Tucson and provides nonstop service to 25 destinations with connections worldwide. The Tucson Airport offers over 80 daily departing flights.
All delegates flying into Tucson International will be provided bus transportation to campus at no additional charge.
A friendly check-in station will be located near baggage claim at TIA to keep you informed of when the next shuttle will arrive and to answer any questions you might have prior to your arrival on campus.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport
The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the sixth busiest airport in the nation and is the principle gateway for Phoenix, the capital of Arizona. It is located 109 miles north of Tucson and takes about two hours to travel from Sky Harbor to Tucson.
Delegates choosing to fly into Phoenix will need to provide and reserve transportation at their own expense. To help with this the NACURH Transportation committee has arranged a special discount rate with one of the shuttle services that operates between PHX and Tucson.
Arizona Shuttle
The Arizona Shuttle Company provides shuttle service between Phoenix and Tucson. This shuttle service is independent from the University of Arizona. They pick up in terminals two, three and four to depart to Tucson. The shuttle service provides direct service to campus where you will be greeted by conference staff and transported to the NACURH 2009 check-in location. The arranged rate for conference shuttle service from PHX to UA is $25 per passenger, each way. This special rate is available for delegations arriving on May 21st and 22nd and departing on May 25th. Delegates can take advantage of this discount by visiting the Arizona Shuttle website link above and typing NACURH in the Promo, Group, Corporate or Frequent Rider ID box.
Arizona Shuttle also provides a charter service for larger groups. This service can be negotiated by contacting them at 1-520-795-6771.
As a reminder, delegations that choose to fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor will be responsible for reserving their own transportation to Tucson.
To use the shuttle from Phoenix to Tucson, it’s required that you check in 15 minutes after the hour in either terminals two, three or four. The shuttle will then leave on the half hour from terminal two, 35-40 minutes after the hour from terminal three and 45-50 minutes after the hour from terminal four.
DRIVING
Delegates driving to campus will be provided a parking pass for a campus lot at no additional charge. Campus lots are not guaranteed to be located near your assigned conference housing, but the conference staff will do their best to assist you with finding the best parking relative to your housing.
